Day 1: Naromoru Park Gate – Met Station
After breakfast we proceed to Naromoru Park Gate and start hiking to Met Station (3000m). The hiking takes about 3 hrs. Dinner and overnight at a camp.
Day 2: Met Station – Mackinder’s Camp
We depart Met Station after breakfast and proceed walking through the Teleki Valley arriving Mackinder’s Camp (4200m) early evening. . Dinner and overnight at the camp.
Day 3: Mackinder’s Camp
This day we use for acclimatization. We walk up the cliff to some higher attitude to have a feel of the journey up the summit point the next morning. Then back to the camp for lunch and rest in the camp .This time can be used to catch up on a game or two.
Day 4: Mackinder’s to Mintos then to Road Head
We wake up the next day at 3.00am to catch the sunrise at Point Lenana through Lewis Glacier on the summit getting to Pt. Lenana just before sunrise. Afterwards descend to the Mintos Camp for breakfast and then proceed downwards to Roadhead camp for the camping along the famous Gorges Valley and overnight stay.Mt Kenya Chogoria route itinerary
Day 5: Road head – Chogoria banda camp
This will be our shortest trek of the trip. Lazing around during breakfast, start the journey and leisurely walk down through the thicket and get to the camp for hot lunch and shower at the Banda? as we prepare to leave the mountainous climatic region the next day. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6: Chogoria Banda – Chogoria Town – Nairobi
After breakfast, set on morning journey to Chogoria (32 km). 4WD vehicles are provided but during the bad weather, climbers have to walk some distance as vehicles may not reach the bandas. From Chogoria transport is provided back to Nairobi, where we arrive late afternoon.
